Adding Columbia’s Email to and iPhone Device

 

If you wish to add your email account into your mobile device, this guide will walk you through on how to do so, whether you are using an android or iPhone.

Note: Please turn off any WiFi connections and use your carrier’s cellular data when adding an email account onto your device.

 

Adding Exchange Email Account to iPhone or iPad.

  1. Go to the Settings icon.
  2. Tap Accounts & Passwords
  3. Tap Add Account
  4. Tap Microsoft Exchange

 

   5.  Enter in your Columbia email address (jcolumbia@colum.edu) and Description (optional), which could be anything you want to name such as “Exchange” then click “Next”.

Note: Always select, “Sign In”

 

 

   6.  Your account should automatically begin to sync your content.  Choose the options you want to sync and click Save.  Note: It is important to sync your calendar because it will allow your Outlook Calendar to sync on your phone’s Calendar app.

Adding Columbia’s Email to an Android Device

 

  1. On your android device, tap the Settings icon.

 

  1. Tap Accounts & sync (Accounts on some devices).

 

   3.  Tap Exchange ActiveSync (Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync or Microsoft Exchange on some devices).

 

   4.  Select the services that you will like to be synced with the Exchange Server. Then, tap Next.

Note: You do not need to add a Domain Name

 

  1. Next, enter in the information needed, and then tap Next.
    • Email address: Your Columbia email address (for example, jcolumbia@colum.edu)
    • Server address: outlook.office365.com
    • Domain: AD600  (Some androids, such as a Samsung Galaxy might combine the domain and username in the settings as domain\username however, you do not need to use the domain but only your username.  For example: jcolumbia).
    • Password: Your Columbia password for your email address
    • Select This server requires an encrypted SSL connection.

6.  It’s optional to enter a descriptive name of your account.  When you’re done “Activate”.
