Microsoft allows users to graduate to migrate their colum.edu content to personal adobe accounts free or paid after graduation. Graduating students will have access to their M365 account for 90 days after graduation. Please use this time to migrate any content you would like to keep to another free or paid account.

If you need an free or would like to purchase an account please follow the steps below.

Obtaining a free Microsoft 365 account

To maintain access to specific Microsoft 365 web applications and 5 GB of OneDrive storage after your Ithaca College subscription ends, register for a free Microsoft 365 account. To create an account:

  1. Visit https://account.microsoft.com/account.
  2. Select Sign in, then choose Create one to register with a personal (non-Columbia College) email address.

Before proceeding, transfer any necessary data from your Ithaca College account. After completing the data transfer, uninstall the Microsoft 365 applications associated with your Ithaca College subscription from your Windows or macOS device.

Purchasing a Microsoft 365 Personal subscription

If you require desktop versions of Microsoft 365 applications for Windows or macOS after your Ithaca College subscription ends, you must purchase a Microsoft 365 Personal subscription which includes 1 TB of OneDrive storage. To compare available plans and make a purchase:

  1. Visit Microsoft 365 Plans.
  2. Click Buy Now for the selected plan.
  3. You will be prompted to sign in  or sign up with your free Microsoft personal account to proceed with the subscription purchase.

After purchasing your Microsoft 365 Personal subscription, proceed to transfer any necessary data from your Ithaca College account. After completing the data transfer, uninstall the Microsoft 365 applications associated with your Columbia College subscription from your Windows or macOS device and install the new version of Microsoft 365.
