Issue

There is a know issue with Mac OS 13.7.5 with printing. A manual work around seems to fix issue temporarily until the next restart. If you have no printers and are running OS 13.7.5

1. Printers in 13.7.5 disappear

  • Its not possible to add printers with Printer Logic
  • Its not possible to add printers manually
  • cups and lpinfo -v show error bad file descriptor
  • printer dialog is empty

Resolution

1. Manually restart CUPS using self service

  • There is a JAMF policy for all 13.7.5 machines to restart the CUPS server manually on every logon. This isn't ideal but people do like to print so hey lets start the CUPS systems at login
  • Open Self service press search for CUPS
  • Press Start on the Start CUPS Printing System Manually

Enjoy printing again
