How to Install Global Protect on a Mac for Students

Go to https://truss.colum.edu

Begin installing Global Protect sign-in using your full email MyColumbiaID@colum.edu as the login name and your Single Sign-on Password for the password.

note: accounts before Nov, 2021 use MyColumbiaID as the user name after Nov 2021 accounts use LastName[00] number as needed.

We recommend you use Google Chrome.

Click on Download MAC 32/64 bit Global Protect Agent.

Double click to start the installation.

Click Continue.

 

Select Global Protect and click continue.

 

Click Change the install location.

 

For students enter truss.colum.edu  and click Connect.

 

You have successfully installed Truss. Click Close.

 

After the installer has finished, an additional prompt will appear on devices running MacOS 10.13 (High Sierra) or higher. If you see this prompt, click Open Security Preferences.

 

Click the Allow button to permit the Global Protect client to complete the installation. Close this window and the installer window.

 

Click Move to Trash.

 

In the Mac menu bar, in the upper right corner of your screen, click on the gray Global Protect icon to display the connection window.  Click Connect.

Enter your MyColumbia ID and password then click Sign in.

Use your MyColumbiaID without the @colum.edu for your user name and your Single Sign On Password.

Note: You will need to check your DUO push and accept the request.   Before you are officially logged in you will need to follow the process for Duo Authentication.

Once you click approve, you will be connected to Global Protect. When you are finished using the VPN make sure to disconnect.

Please note: After 12 hours of inactivity the VPN will disconnect.
