How to Use the Video Search Feature in Panopto

Panopto has a robust video search tool that allows you to search for key words within a Panopto folder or Panopto video. This will help you easily locate content within a video. Panopto will search for words that are spoken in the video, present on screen or slides, as well as within video notes, discussions, and bookmarks.

1. Sign into Canvas at https://canvas.colum.edu with your Office 365 credentials.

2. Click on a Canvas course in your dashboard where you would like to use the search feature.

3. Click on Panopto Video within the course’s menu.

4. The Panopto folder specific to your selected course will appear, where you may search for key words. This will search all videos within this folder that contain the key words entered in your search.

5. Panopto will display all videos within the folder that contain the key words that you searched for. There will also be a time stamped list of where the key words were present within the videos. You may click on any of these time stamped results to play the video at this point.

6. You may also click on a single video within the Panopto folder to search only within a particular video. Once the video is selected, the search will appear to the left above the table of contents and menu.

7. The results for the video will appear and you may select any of these time stamped results to play the video at this point in time.
